I’ll admit, this one is a little challenging to post. As a survivor of years of domestic abuse and abandonment, how can you possibly love your enemies after all the things they’ve done to you?
Oftentimes I hear people speak on this topic only to think: “You’ve never experienced true evil have you?…”
I’m certainly not an expert, and I’m definitely not perfect at life, but I can share how this verse has freed me from my enemies’ mental grip as it pertains to my own personal experiences. Trust me…I have to walk in Matthew 18:21-22 many many times as I’m triggered by my abuse. In fact, I’m well over the seventy times seven equivalent that Jesus speaks of in that verse.
But…
If God is peace and peace is love, then wherever peace is, God is–and wherever God is, love is. ( << read that again slowly >> )
Hand your enemy over to God. Satan had his grip on that
person when they did their wrongs–they were blinded by sin. God will handle it
from here. Your job is to find peace = find God = find love. By giving your
enemy over to God, God now becomes your focus–not them. And if God is your
focus, then peace will fill your thoughts with love–not anger, hate,
bitterness. So by loving your enemies, you’ll be free of their sin once and for
all.
I hope this helps someone on their journey
today. Go in love and peace as you give God all glory and praise. You’re
finally free!

Peter came up to the Lord and asked, “How many times should I forgive
someone who does something wrong to me? Is seven times enough?” Jesus
answered, “I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy-seven times!
